Compared to the conventional Civic Si Sedan, front and rear damping force (both bump and rebound) was increased between 8- and 24-percent. The track-tuned suspension, tested at the Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit in Japan, lowers the vehicle by 0.6 inches with aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance while still maintaining a high level of ride comfort. “We’re enthusiasts, too, and the ultra-premium Civic MUGEN Si Sedan offers exclusive style and elevated handling performance with legendary Honda refinement.” “Honda enthusiasts have long been asking for factory-installed MUGEN performance products similar to what the company offers in Japan,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. The Civic MUGEN Si Sedan is equipped with a high-performance suspension, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling and a sport-tuned exhaust system. Press release and image gallery after the jumpĪ factory-prepared 2008 Honda Civic MUGEN Si Sedan will debut in mid-October, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. The limited-production MUGEN version will be available solely in Fiji Blue Pearl finish in a maximum of 1,000 units for the 2008 model year priced just below $30,000 -compared to $21.290 of the base Civic Si Sedan. Inside the MUGEN gets a center console placard along with a spherical 50 mm MUGEN aluminum shift knob. Complementing the suspension and tire upgrade are a new sports exhaust system and a bodykit that adds a front spoiler with a sports grille, side spoilers, a rear bumper diffuser and a rear wing. In particular the Civic MUGEN Si Sedan features a sports suspension with aggressive spring and damper tuning that lowers the vehicle’s ground clearance by 0.6 inches combined with lightweight 18-inch forged aluminum wheels (27 percent lighter than the stock 17-inch alloys) and BFGoodrich g-Force KDW 215/40ZR18 summer tires. Just in case you don’t remember, the American MUGEN doesn’t bear any mechanical changes meaning that the 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine remains untouched at 197 Hp – no 240 Hp here like the Japanese market only, Civic MUGEN RR. Will be buying a new car even if this is fixed for sure.As promised at the 2006 SEMA show last fall when Honda presented a prototype version of the Civic MUGEN Si, the Japanese automaker announced the addition of a factory-prepared 2008 Civic MUGEN Si Sedan for the American market with sales kicking off in mid-October. Mechanics don’t know why it keeps breaking off but it does, some suggested I need a whole new engine block! This car was a reliable at first but only after 6 months I don’t trust it all. I have bought 4-5 new tensioners, which all costed $100, and plus labor. So, I didn’t have my car for over month, and just for it to break down again in a week. Apparently this is a common issue in Honda’s but Honda doesn’t know what to do about it. He said everything is good to go shouldn’t be any issues, a week later the bolt snapped in half AGAIN. I had a different mechanic fix it, rethreaded the bolt hole brand new tensioner and everything once again. Same thing happen again, mechanic replaced again and it broke again another month or so later. A month later, it broke again and left me stranded. Belt tensioner broke once, apparently the bolt snapped off and got stuck in the block, mechanic able to remove it and replace tensioner. I have had this car for 6 months no problems before it all went downhill. It does have a lot of miles on it but Honda’s are known to last a while. Bought this car off a private seller, had a mechanic check it out first and everything looked good.
